Don't just live, have a reason to live!  How many of us just go through the motions of living. We get up every morning, get ready for work, or go looking for for work. We may take a mid-morning break and go back to work or searching. Then there's lunch and maybe a mid-afternoon break. We go back to work or our job search. When the work day is done, we may run some errands before going home, have dinner, maybe spend time with the family and then wind down and relax, sometimes. Then it's off to bed. Then we wake up the next morning and begin the daily cycle all over again.

The weekends may be a little different. We could spend more time running errands and socializing with family and friends. We may go to a church service or participate in some type of entertainment if we are financially able to do so. Or, we may just spend the whole weekend relaxing after a long, hard work or job searching week. The weekend ends, then we repeat this weekly cycle, again and again for months and years.

Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, is this really what life is all about? Is this the reason why I'm on this planet? Surely there has to be something more to life that this! Of course there is. A life without a sense of direction or purpose is a shallow and unfulfilled life. Do you have something to live for? What are you doing to help someone less fortunate than you? What kind of positive impact are you making on future generations? What will be your legacy be when you leave this world? Even if you are making an impact, there's always more to do, a greater impact to make.

We are all born with innate talents, gifts, skills and abilities. There are so many people and so many things in this world that need your time, effort, focus, gifts and skills. Each and every one of us has something positive to give to this global community. The more time you spend on your cause, the more meaningful and fulfilling a life you live. This can turn your everyday monotony of a life into a beautiful jewel that you long to polish and brighten throughout your life. This can also help you in your job or career, or in finding a job. So as you move forward in your life's maize, make it worth living. So that long after you are gone, your impact is felt, and lives are still changed.

Don't just live, have a reason to live! Make it happen today.

“Do not be so focused on the closed doors of opportunity that you cannot see the open windows around you”   I was inspired to develop this nugget by observing and witnessing many of my family and friends being so disheartened by an obstacle, a "no" answer to a question or some other roadblock in many aspects of their lives. This has also been my own experience in some instances. At that same time, as I talked some of them through the issues, asking them the right questions, it was always the case that there was another alternative or option that was just as good, if not better than the one they was so concerned with.

This happens to us in many aspects of our lives. We may be so focused on get that job promotion for the department we're currently working in, that we don't even bother to look at other jobs, many times better jobs, in other departments or other locations within the same company. Or there may be exceptional opportunities for your skills and abilities with other companies.

In other instances, you may be focused on getting to the next rung on the corporate ladder that you don't realize that the next rung really isn't for you. In fact, it's the corporation that defines the rungs and not you. It may be time to step back and define your own upward mobility steps of your career and then make plans to advance in a matter that works best for you.

This a message for all aspects of your life. Whether it's an obstacle encountered in a relationship, the next step in life, the loss of a loved one, or a lighter subject such as getting the next outfit you want, going to the restaurant you always wanted to visit or which type of chocolate to buy. Do be so caught up in the one option. Explore, explore, explore. You will discover a world of opportunities and you will open your world to new and exciting adventures. So go ahead, open up, live a little better and enjoy life!
